We headed south down the coastal route stopping in Jervis Bay, Mallacoota, Eden and Lakes Entrance before heading North to Melbourne. The trip takes you through national parks and small beach town after small beachtown. Kangaroos are scene along the route in local parks and fields. The beaches are pristine. White sand, beautiful multicolored rocks with terra cotta, earthy greens and sand hues. The waves are plentiful yet its not an intense undertoe. One minute we thought we were in the Pacific Northwest and the next it felt like island touring in Maui. It is the start of fall here, so a bit cool for swimming but doable. And S took advantage whenever she could. The area and really most of Australia to us feels like a throw back to the 80s in the best of ways. We continue to love the 70s and 80s tunes that permeate the radio. We found many a 'penny candy' store with old time favorites and video rental stores!

Ok, you've got hundreds, maybe thousands, of great photos on this trip, but one of my favorites is on the road to Melbourne. I'm guessing it's near sunset with the reds and oranges. A sitting fisherman has hooked a fish. The fish, with the line in it's mouth is leaping in the air. A surfer carrying his board is entering stage right. There's a lifeguard tower in center. Great composition. Great photo. Frameable.
