South Island, New Zealand

And its not just due to the 'Remarkables' mountain range which runs north to south. Queenstown was the final stop on our tour of New Zealand's South Island. We arrived in Christ Church and traveled to Lake Tekapo where we witnessed the southern lights on a midnight star gazing and telescope experience that I wish we could have captured in pictures. It was spectacular. We then ventured to Mt. Cook for some beautiful hiking and mountains that had some similarity to the Rockies and also to Patagonia, with a Crater Lake. We then ventured to Dunedin and down the coast to Nugget Point and ultimately Bluffs, where the Stewart Island Ferry runs and the southern most point wr could reach before heading due north to Queenstown. Queenstown was magical. We did a day tour to Milford Sound in the pouring rain which only made the waterfalls more spectacular.

The landscape in New Zealand is stunning and spotless. We debated whether the go to New Zealand, and now can't wait to go back someday to check out the North Island and more of the South. It is simply beautiful.
