We loved finiahing our safari with Isaac our driver darting around the savannah at full soeed in search of the Pangolin, the oversized pinecone that uncoils into a small, alligator/aardvark blend. Savute has elephants right at our dinner table, roaring louder than lions at night, and tons of babies--lion cubs, zebra dazzles with little ones, new giraffes. We found the termite mounds amazing if this was not mentioned. The lighting of the savannah is just beautiful from sunrise to sunset. We learned so much about animals and their tracks, habitats and the ecosystem. The camps are well run, serene and filled with passionate staff who work to share their culture (singing and shrills and dancing) and food (serving venison, soringbock and local fish) and love for the animals. The food was in fact too plentiful. It was nice to meet some other visitors almost all of whom had done repeated safaris. Kenya was recommended as another great spot. Im having trouble loading pictures and of course the best ones are on my camera so Ill look forward to sharing albums over the holidays! Particularly of the cubs! There is a picture of our short arial flights between camps which of course K greatly enjoyed S remains unphased-zero sickness, fear--loving it all. Also a picture of S tasting the fruit of the baobab tree, which tastes like dried mango. The Corey Bastard bird is also featured here, a must find on youtube the sound it makes is extraordinary.
