North of Cairns Rainforests

We visited the most soectacular waterfall along with amazing trees in the rainforest. We are swimming in and behind the waterfall which was amazing. Northern Cairns was picturesque and quite different from the coast. We also visited the famous spanish castle ruins built by Jose. We also visited the Kauri trees. Kauri trees are rainforest giants that grow straight up with no branches but a tough bark so they protect themselves. The ones shown are only 1000 years old and grow for 2000 years so only 1/2 grown. They tower above the rest of the trees. The blue butterflys in this area are also quite a site.
