Goodbye Helsinki

We ended our time in Helsinki with a lovely haircut for Scarlett and some retail therapy before heading to Africa. We liked Helsinki but its smaller than expected. The highlight (or low point:-) was a visit to Soumenlinna, an old Swedish turned Russian bastion (for 110 years until Finland annexed it) off the coast of Helsinki a 20 minute ferry ride. Scarlett and Kelley deared a dark underground fort tunnel with Mom's phone as a flashlight on the far side of the abandoned fort. Needless to say they lost Mom and we landed in unpleasant territory for a short while. Mom had Scarletts phone and T1D supplies creating some drama when we finally reconnected and Scarlett's signal reconnected indicating a severe low. Scandinavia, Estonia and Finland have been fairly easy areas to keep her in check; Mom is definetly worried about doing so well as we move ahead to more remote locations. Some food we've continued to enjoy and not sure if we will find moving on includes Cappucino, Smoked Salmon and 'Joe and the Juice' chain for smoothies. We find the notion of 'hygge' is ever present here as well as in Scandinavia, with warm cozy seating, candles and faux fireplaces everywhere.
