Doha, Qatar

As the site is public I'll be making sine adjustmenrs on posting dates so we aren't exactly trackable! Doha is an experience. Visiting only a few weeks before the FIFA Workd Cup 22 is game changing. The city is buzzing with building and preparation. The event clearly is the crown jewel of a location that was largely known for two things-an energy bastion for the wealthy and a prime global hub for travelers shifting continents. We are in that catrgory, but KG was excited to see this place for certain. Its hot here. Over 100 and sultry. It is a Muslim country seeking to embrace new ways with a wide range of dress. Shoulders and knees are expressly covered but it is a modern mix. Its so hot I tried to work on our small hotel balcony and moisture formed instantly on my computer and you can clearly see the haze in the air. Inside venues are the polar opposite, no pun intended. If AC is a sign of wealth than parka temperatures are an accurate bogie and delivered everywhere. The city feels 'built' like Celebration FL yet with the classic white and tan facades. The modern part of the city has really unique architecture. S and K visited the Islamic Museum and found the mix of animal taxedermy and history interesting and unexpected. A major mall like the Venitian on steroids is a centerpiece. The shoppers will appreciate there is an entire wing dedicated to baby designer stores-Dior, Gucci, Prada, Dolce etc. The middle courtyard is a Laduree Paris macaroon tea house. S was thrilled to find these and didnt share. We dined outside with massive AC units next to our table. Middle Eastern food is AWESOME. While K likes to say we are technically in Africa, they 'welcome you to the Middle East' and the daily prayer, which I find quite peaceful, is pipoed throughout the city many times throughout the day.
